Whatever wishes you’ve received today...
To D.L.
***
Whatever wishes you’ve received today
And those that some still hurry to deliver,
May they come true, and I would even pray
And drink to that, despite my tired liver.
May you be warm when winter comes along,
And cool in summer, free of pains and fears…
This little verse could well become a song,
But I shall spare everybody’s ears.
